On July 13, the sixth meeting of the Discipline Development Advisory Council of the School of Electrical Engineering at Sichuan University was held at the Jiang'an campus. The theme of the meeting was "Unite Our Efforts to Promote Development, Strengthen Our Foundation to Reveal True Excellence.

Vice President Liu Chao attended the meeting and delivered a speech on behalf of the school. Academician Cheng Shijie from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academicians Deng Jianjun and Rao Hong from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Zhong Zhiyong from the Canadian Academy of Engineering, President Sun Changyin of Anhui University, Director Liao Ruijin of the National Key Laboratory of Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment Technology and former Vice President of Chongqing University, Senior Expert Fu Mingli from the Southern Power Grid Science Research Institute, Dean Song Yongduan of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute at Chongqing University, Director Lu Jiazhen of the National Key Laboratory for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Power Grids and Dean of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at Changsha University of Science and Technology, Director Gao Shibin of the National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Center at Southwest Jiaotong University, Professor Hu Changhua from the Engineering University of the Rocket Force of the People's Liberation Army, former Dean Yang Chunhua of the School of Automation at Central South University, Dean Zhang Chenghui of the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shandong University, Chair Liu Dong of the Academic Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Director Su Shaochun of the Science and Technology Department of State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company, Deputy General Manager Liu Xinyu of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, Professor Deng Zhidong from the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, Professor Zou Yi from South China University of Technology, Chairman Li Ping of Beijing Dongtu Technology Co., Ltd., Huang Changyuan from State Grid, and President Liu Taihua of Beijing Aodewei Electric Technology Co., Ltd., among other honorary chairpersons and directors, attended the meeting.

Mao Dafu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Fang Jie, Director of the Science and Technology Talent Department at the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Yang Longyuan, Deputy Director of the Talent Work Department at the Sichuan Provincial Organization Department, along with other heads of relevant provincial departments, attended the meeting to provide guidance. Representatives from the school's relevant departments, all members of the college leadership team, the professor committee, and staff and teachers from various departments and centers were also present. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Yuhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college.

Vice President Liu Chao delivered a speech congratulating the successful convening of the advisory council on behalf of the school. In his address, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the council members for their ongoing concern and support, particularly for the development of the School of Electrical Engineering. He noted that the School of Electrical Engineering has consistently pursued high-quality, connotative development, achieving new milestones in all aspects of its work. Liu emphasized the school's commitment to excellence and high standards, focusing on the national "dual carbon" strategy. He highlighted the importance of leveraging the strengths of the energy and power industry, as well as regional characteristics, in the pursuit of establishing a top-tier electrical engineering discipline. He also expressed his hope that the council members will continue to offer their care and support for the school's development, providing valuable insights and recommendations to assist the school and its college in reaching new pinnacles of achievement.

Mao Dafu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, emphasized in his speech that the School of Electrical Engineering has, in recent years, consistently focused on aligning its strategic development with the needs of the national power industry and the economic and social development demands of Sichuan. The school has expedited the establishment of a key base for talent cultivation and research innovation within the power energy sector. He expressed his hope that the consultation council will play a pivotal role in guiding the college's development to better serve national strategic needs and contribute to the accelerated transformation of Sichuan into a leading energy province.

Dean Xiao Xianyong of the School of Electrical Engineering presented a comprehensive development report to the advisory council. In his report, Dean Xiao detailed the school's principal achievements over the past year across various domains, including party building, team development, scientific research innovation, and talent cultivation. He provided an analysis of the school's current development status and outlined strategic development ideas tailored to the school's specific circumstances. These ideas encompass enhancing the quality of independent talent cultivation, fostering high-quality connotative development, and working towards establishing distinctive academic discipline highlights.

The advisory council, including all honorary chairpersons and directors, fully affirmed the new achievements made by the college in the past year and expressed strong agreement with the college's future development strategies and measures. At the same time, they provided consulting suggestions on several aspects: how to accelerate the construction of a first-class electrical engineering college, how to seize the window of opportunity to attract and cultivate more high-level talent, how to focus on national and regional strategic needs and serve the "great national cause," strengthen organized scientific research efforts to support the construction of a new energy system, how to fully leverage the university's interdisciplinary advantages to generate more original results, how to rely on the advantages of the energy and electricity industry and the regional advantages of Sichuan's clean energy base to further enhance school-enterprise cooperation, how to broaden international perspectives, vigorously promote international exchanges and cooperation, and enhance international influence, how to effectively utilize alumni resources and integrate resources from all sectors of society to provide continuous support for the college's development.

On behalf of the college, Secretary Zhao Yuhui and Dean Xiao Xianyong extended their heartfelt thanks to all the academicians and council members for their enduring care, guidance, and support towards the School of Electrical Engineering at Sichuan University.
