Teaching:
Dr. Liu undertakes the undergraduate courses for Medical Information Engineering, which is the featured specialty of Ministry of Education of the P.R.C. The undergraduate courses include Medical Image Processing, Digital Image Processing, Computer Network and Communication, Multimedia Communication Technology, and Introduction of Medical Information Engineering. Also Dr. Liu is undertaking some graduate courses, like Image Processing and Image Recognition, Biomedical Mathematics and Introduction of Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Liu has been awarded the honor of Young Backbone Teacher of Sichuan University consecutively in 2002, 2003 and 2004, 1 first prize of the 7th Higher Education Achievement Prize of Sichuan Province; since 2002, Dr. Liu has enrolled and cultivated over 30 Master candidates in the fields of signal and information processing and medical information engineering.
Scientific research
Dr. Liu has been engaged in the work and research of biomedical engineering, signal and information processing and test technologies. In the field of medical image processing and analysis, Dr. Liu participated in 3 general programs of NSFC, and has published over 40 papers. In recent years, Dr. Liu is actively applying for transverse programs, and acquired nearly RMB 2 million as the research fund for his transverse programs. His “The Quantitative Assessment of Eccentric Mitral Regurgitation Based on Doppler Imaging” was awarded third prize of Science & Technology Progress of Sichuan Province.
Social Responsibilities:
Dr. Liu used to act as the evaluation expert of the doctor station foundation of Ministry of Education of the P.R.C., China Scholarship Council and Government Procurement of Ministry of Finance of the P.R.C. Dr. Liu used to act as the Executive Director and Deputy Secretary-General of Sichuan Automation, Instrument and Control Society for many years consecutively. Now Dr. Liu is acting as the Secretary-General of Digital Medical-care and Medical Informatization Branch of Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.
