Professor, Ph.D., and graduate and doctoral advisor in the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Sichuan University.
Director of the Professors Committee of the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Sichuan University. In 2008, he was conferred the title of “Famous Teacher in Sichuan Province”. Professor Liu Tianqi has been engaged in teaching and research related to the analysis & calculation and stability control of power systems, HVDC, dispatching automation, new energy integration, and distributed generation/micro-grids. Professor Liu, working as project leader or first researcher, completed/undertook over 20 projects including the 973 Project “Basic Theory and Key Technology for Power System Wide-Area Security Defense System,” the 863 Project “Flexible Control Technology for Enhancing Power Grid Security and Stability and Operational Efficiency,” the National Natural Science Foundation of China key project “Stability Mechanism and Control Methods of Multi-Sending-End HVDC Transmission System in Building A Strong Smart Grid” and those on the provincial and ministerial level, as well as more than 30 projects funded by power enterprises. He compiled 2 textbooks, co-authored 7 monographs, and published more than 150 papers, over 50 of which are covered in SCI or EI indexes.

Under Professor Liu’s supervision, 66 students have gained master’s degrees and 5 doctoral degrees so far.
