Professor Zhou Buxiang was born in Zhongbao Town, Xinghua City, Jiangsu Province, in January, 1965. He is a member of the Chinese Communist Party, and professor, Ph.D., and graduate advisor in the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Sichuan University.

In 1986, he graduated from Chengdu University of Science and Technology with a bachelor's degree in information engineering and, after graduation, was assigned to Xinjiang Electronic Computing Center and worked as a research assistant. In 1990, he was admitted through examination into the power system automation master's program of Chengdu University of Science and Technology and obtained a master's degree in power system automation in 1993. In the same year, he was assigned to the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Sichuan University. In 1994, he was admitted through examination into Chongqing University and began to pursue a doctoral program in power system automation as an in-service Ph.D. candidate. In 1998, he obtained a doctorate in power system automation. Besides studying as a doctoral candidate, he worked at the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Sichuan University as a teaching assistant, lecturer and associate professor. In 1999, he was appointed professor by the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Sichuan University.
