The Institute of Applied Electromagnetics

2010-10-12

The Institute of Applied Electromagnetics, in Sichuan University, mainly focus on new microwave energy and its applications in electronic industry, including the interactions in a non-equilibrium system between electromagnetic field and chemical reactions, study and design of microwave chemical reactors, electromagnetic compatibility of complicated system, ultra-wideband microwave antenna, microwave power combination, and inverse problems in electromagnetic fields.

The institute has 4 professors, 3 PhD student supervisors, 6 associate professors, among which four members have worked abroad for long terms. Several Scholars in the institute work as a director or vice-chairman in the first and secondary national academies. The director of the institute is Prof. Kama Huang, who is a Cheung Kong Scholar Professor, winner of Outstanding Youth Fund of National Natural Science Fund, enrolled in the state-level of the New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project, and elected to be AMPERE Committee of Management in 2009. The institute is well funded by Major Fund and Key Fund of National Natural Science Fund, National Fund “863” beside national key science and technology projects.

The institute has published more than 200 papers, in both domestic and aboard academic journals, such as Science China, Chinese Science Bulletin, IEEE Trans. on EMC、IEEE Trans. on MTT, IEEE Trans. on AP, IEEE Trans. on PS, IEEE Trans. on NBS, J. of Electromagnetics, J. of EMW and applications etc., among which over 100 papers have been cited by SCI and/or EI. Moreover two books have been issued. The institute has also signed two international cooperation agreements with foreign research institutions, hosted one international academic symposium and two national conferences, received National Awards for Technological Invention 2nd prize and a number of provincial and ministerial awards. The research on microwave chemistry dynamics gained a significant influence both in domestic and abroad.
